Komet Socks

These were a quick and easy knit. I'm going to keep them in the pile of future gifts, maybe for my sister's birthday in May.
So, for January, I finished the socks I made for Tim, plus I finished a pair of socks from my bag of sock picks - Komets.

I worked on the socks for Denise, but they're kind of on hold at the moment, since I'm not sure what to do with them. I took them in to work and had her try them on and she could just barely get them over her heel. Very frustrating. Not sure whether to frogg them and start over, make them into fingerless gloves, as she suggested, or continue on and hope they loosen up a little with blocking. :-(

I didn't get any work done on Laura's sweater (although I did cast on a sweater for myself - bad girl that I am).

My February goals are to finish at least 2 WIP from the basket, plus get to work on that damn sweater. Most likely I will cast on at least one more pair of socks as well.

January Goals

So far so good - I finished Tim's socks this afternoon. Now on to the colorwork socks for Denise.

I'm the worlds worst blogger. I always want to be one of those people (I admire them so much) who can write a witty, interesting and touching little statement on the human condition, 5 to 7 days a week. But I just can't do it. I'm lucky if I can add a blog post once every couple of months. I was always like that with a diary too, as long as I can remember. When I was a teen (and even in my twenties) I would but these beautiful note books, hoping to fill them with pithy remarks, beautiful memories, etc., and after about 3 pages of total drivel, they would end up collecting dust on a shelf. It's just not in me, as much as I wish it was.

But ...

I have thought of a useful role for this blog, so let's see if I can actually make it happen.

I want to record my knitting goals for each month and then check in periodically to see if I'm reasonably on track. The reason for this is that I don't like how many projects I have sitting in the pile, half finished. It's starting to make me feel guilty about my knitting, since some of the projects are for other people who have been waiting for ages. And the last thing I need is to feel guilty about knitting. I figure maybe if I can set a couple of goals for myself I will have a little more direction and will get a bit more done, rather than just starting project after project.

For January, I would like to:
Finish the vanilla socks I'm making for Tim
Finish the socks I started for Denise. Sadly, this involves ripping back to the gusset, which is why they've been set aside for the last 2 weeks. But it needs to be done.
Get back to work on Laura's sweater. I don't know if I can actually finish it this month, but I could get close.

I'll check in next week and see how I'm doing.
